Large Format Printing - Oversized Sheer Fabric Challenge: Client wanted to print on sheer fabric. To have large graphics in showroom yet have an open feeling and have all products on display throughout store. The challenge was to find a printable sheer fabric at a fine quality to display within an upscale furniture retailer. Solution: After much researching and product testing a fabric was resourced from out of the U.S. This new fabric is available up to 16' rolls. Potential problems: Typically sheer materials only print up to 4' wide. The wider the fabric the greater the chance for material to stretch as the printer prints. This would cause inks to smudge. After several production adjustments we were able to successfully print hi resolution across the full image. Result: After client review of printed piece - a major store program was produced for 25 stores consisting of five original graphics for a total of 135 10'x10' banners. Client comments: Graphics looked so good- people coming into their store to buy furniture were inquiring if they could buy banners. Digital Graphics - See Thru Window Challenge: Sports retailer wanted large graphics installed on window to promote products, however did not want to have interior of store blocked by graphics - customers had to be able to see in the store from outside. Solution: Color X printed on a perforated see thru vinyl. Perforations allowed people to see thru graphics into store. To further keep the windows and store interior open - Color X - die cut graphics which allowed a good portion of window to remain uncovered. American Museum of Natural history Challenge: Produce color consistent interior and exterior high quality exhibit graphics. Even though interior and exterior were printed on different substrates, color reproduction had to match. Color matching had to account for lighting conditions at museum environment. All productions including scanning, retouching, mounting and laminating to be done within a very tight deadline to meet exhibits opening. Solution: All images were scanned, retouched, color corrected and composed. Images were retouched under color calibrated lights and then had to be adjusted for actual exhibit lighting. Proofs were reviewed at museum and adjusted back at Color X. Upon approval, prints and banners were produced and delivered. Result: Graphics were installed on time and the exhibit was received with rave reviews.
